A girl with cerebral palsy Lara worked with learned to say the new word ‘ball’ and reach for it with ease. She usually took at least 20 seconds of effort and spasticity to say a word she already knew. This sweet, four-year-old also had much spasticity in her arms and legs. She could only reach for and hold objects with a straight arm. During her 6 Anat Baniel Method for Children lessons she was able to bend her elbow to reach the ball and not have to keep everything at arms length to both reach and play with them. She loved her lessons and smiled throughout them. She delighted in saying ‘ball’ with just a 3 second lag from the time she intended to say it and then reached for it with ease.
